Lions, rhinos and zebra are considered by most to be precious creatures, worthy of special protection. Yet they are the prey and potential trophies for the female big game hunters featured in this one-off documentary. The Women Who Kill Lions follows American Rebecca Francis and Croatian-Canadian Jacine Jadresko - both at home and on the hunt - in an attempt to get to the heart of their personal stories and the motives that fuel their participation in this controversial blood sport. The numbers of female trophy hunters is on the increase. But is it really worse for women to indulge in a sport that men have pursued for so many years? Rebecca has been openly vilified by high profile celebrity animal rights campaigners, such as Ricky Gervais and Miley Cyrus, and both of the women attract extreme abuse, including death threats on an almost daily basis.
